What cookies and browser storage are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Local storage and session storage do a similar job without being sent back to the server on every request. Both let a site remember a few choices so it behaves consistently the next time you visit.
What NickStyler itself stores
NickStyler does not set tracking or analytics cookies of its own. The tool keeps three small items in your browser:
- Colour theme — whether you picked light or dark mode (local storage, kept until you clear it).
- Request token — lets the styler talk to our server; it expires within an hour and is removed when you close the tab (session storage).
- Vote markers — remember that you already liked a nickname or voted on a name, so the buttons do not count twice (local storage).
Cookies set by other services
- Advertising — some pages carry Google AdSense ads. Google may set cookies to show and measure ads under its own policies.
- Security — Cloudflare, which delivers the site, may set a cookie to tell real visitors from automated traffic.
How to control them
Every modern browser lets you view, delete and block cookies and site storage from its settings. If you block them, the styler still works, but your colour choice and vote markers will not be remembered. Private or incognito browsing clears everything when you close the window.
